New found love...glass etching.

Well, today I got a VTO from work. :( boo! A VTO of means Voluntary Time Off....but its not really always voluntary. No babies being born today, so there was really no need for me. Oh well, it gives me some time to do some uninterrupted cleaning, since my littler terror is at pappaw's, and to get some crafts done.Yesterday, Evangelina and I went to Kristen's house to do some glass etching! I had never done it before, but it didn't take me long to fall in love with! And I have so many ideas that I can't wait to start. Kristen found tons of glass items and had them ready for us to get started, but I took a vase that I found at the local thrift store for a dollar! And I monogrammed it!

L for Leal.
I free handed this with the etching tool so it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to, but there is always beauty in flaws.

I decided I needed to add a little to the vase because it was just a little dull. So I gathered my supplies.
  • A hot glue gun
  • burlap
  • fabric rosettes that I made using a tutorial from The Sisters 4
  • scissors

Then, I cut a strip of burlap just long enough and wide enough to wrap around the neck of the vase. Using the hot glue gun I put a line of glue at my start and then I wrapped the burlap around and put a line of glue at the end to tack it in place. Lastly, I glued on my little rosettes and voila! Done. Simple!

Cute, right?
I found the glass pebbles at our local craft store for a $1.

I really hope that you all enjoyed today's post. I really enjoyed making it. Now its time that I get cleaning! Time to make the house spotless! But I know once my little terror gets home it won't be long before its a chaotic mess again.
Adios bonitas!
