A Not So Average Love Story...Our Story.

Three years ago today I married my best friend, Beto. This man is unlike any other man I know and I will follow him anywhere. Today's post is in ode to my best friend and our love and it is my wish that everyone will get to experience a love like this. Here is our story:

I'm still far from you and it feels like I'm still far from home...

I love being asked how my husband and I met because when I answer I love the blank-confused-really? kind of look that I get. My husband and I met... on Myspace!!! Okay, so not so weird, right? No, not really, but for folks around here it is and at the time we met it was. And we actually didn't meet meet, you know, face to face. We just chatted away through comments, then, comments became texts and texts became phone conversations. When our phone conversations became a nightly thing, I was in a relationship with this fellow that I followed from summer camp clear to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He will be named J.  J and I thought we were going to spend our life together. He was going to be a youth pastor and someday a pastor and I was going to be wifey. J knew all about Beto and our friendship and didn't mind. Beto was honest and told me that he wished that it was him rather than J. And to be honest, I was beginning to feel the same way because J had hurt me a few times, but I couldn't end it with J just yet. Beto and I talked every night, he listened and shared. Then one day, J called it quits, he said, "God wants me to end this and focus more on Him." Of course it killed me. Not to mention I was far from home and alone. So I went back to Ohio and tried to mend my own heart. At this time Beto was moving from St. George, Utah to Guadalajara to be with his family. So our nightly chats were few and far between.

When our chats resumed, Beto informed me that he loved me and wanted to marry me. I was astounded. All I could think is, "Is this guy serious. I don't even know him." But he was. He told me that he will come up to Ohio for a visit and we will see what happens then. So a few months later he took a 4 day bus ride clear from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to Parkersburg, West Virginia.  I can still remember that day like it was yesterday. I remember being a nervous wreck when I went to the Greyhound station to pick him up. I remember, passing the station to park on the next block up and seeing him there in a Set Your Goals hoodie and suit case in hand. When he spotted me as I was walking down to him, he smiled and that was the moment I fell in love with him. His smile still makes me weak in the knees. He planned to stay 2 weeks, but when it came time to leave he didn't and he hasn't left me since.

I want to grow old and decrepit with this man.

You have my heart in your hands
You have my heart so don't, don't let it go

Its hard to believe that within those 2 weeks we became completely inseparable. I cannot imagine my world without him. He completes me and compliments me. He is the goofy, outgoing, laid back kind of person. I am quiet (until you get to know me,) shy, and the one who stresses. Its a match made in Heaven and I thank God every day for this amazing man. He has showed me unconditional love and a passion for life that I have never seen in any other man. I honestly don't know what I would do without this man. I love my mister.

You're mine, and we belong together
Yes, we belong together, for eternity

I hope that you all enjoyed today's post and if not, too bad! its my day and I am entitled to my smooshiness!
xoxo,
Danielle

Awww, you're definitely allowed to be mushy once in a while! Just don't overdo it! :P What a cute and unique story and you two look absolutely adorable together in your pics. Even though he kind of looks like a vampire in the last one, but vampires are allowed to be cute and sexy now, right? Happy Anniversary!
